Inglourious Basterds

Contrary to popular belief Inglourious Basterds is not a remake, but did take it's title from a 1978 Italian film The Inglorious Bastards.  The script was written in 1998, but Tarantino had trouble with the ending so he ended up filing both parts of Kill Bill and Death Proof before making it.  Inglourious Basterds is also now the point where Tarantino's world separates from ours, with the death of Hitler somehow making our present a more violent place.  Whether this was the idea all along, or Tarantino was just trying to cash in on the whole shared universe idea popularized by Marvel is up for debate.
