The Tingler

The Tingler is a Castle film starring Vincent Price that is mostly remembered for it's marketing gimmicks.  There was Percepto, where buzzers were attached to the underside of some of the seats.  When Vincent Price warns from the screen that the Tingler is loose in the theater the buzzers would go off startling the movie goers.  Castle also hired people to scream and faint during the movie.  Finally, although the movie was filmed in black and white there was a color sequence showing blood flowing into a tub and a bloody hand reaching out.  One thing that gets overlooked with all of this, the Tingler was the first major motion picture  to show someone using LSD.
